Seven people have died in a devastating fire at a hotel in South Korea. The fire, which started for unknown reasons, initially spread to a room on the eighth floor of the hotel on Thursday evening.
The official Yonhap news agency reported that the fire broke out on Thursday evening in Bucheon, a suburb west of the capital Seoul.
According to authorities, another 12 people were injured, three of them seriously. None of their lives were in danger.
Victims jumped out of windows
According to the fire department, several victims died when they tried to save themselves by jumping out of the window onto the inflatables. More dead people were found in the stairwell and hallway of the hotel.
Fire under control after two hours
The hotel is located far from popular tourist spots. At the time of the accident, there were a total of 27 guests in the building.
About 160 firefighters were deployed and managed to get the fire under control about two and a half hours after it broke out.
