Manhunt underway – 32-year-old escaped naked from detention center

Date:

On Friday evening, a prisoner from Libya managed to escape from the detention center in Vordernberg, Upper Styria. Just three weeks ago, four men escaped there, one of them successfully. The search is ongoing.

In the middle of the night, around 1 a.m. on Friday, the Libyan tried to escape – and has been missing ever since. The 32-year-old had only been in custody since August 20 for being in Austria illegally. According to the police’s verbatim statement, he was there waiting for his “measure to terminate his stay” – and should therefore be deported.

The Libyan escaped “with extreme effort” and “in an adventurous way – he also did not pay attention to his physical integrity.” The escape cannot be described in more detail because they want to avoid imitations, says police spokesman Heimo Kohlbacher. Exactly this: there were jumps from great heights.

Escaped without clothes
After the breakout, the North African probably stole a bicycle in Vordernberg and then a car. “The man was still able to use this car, a gray Mitsubishi pick-up with an LN license plate,” it says.

The manhunt has now begun: the man is 1.90 meters tall, is bald and has fled without clothes. The police are asking the public for useful information about number 133. There is currently no danger.

It was not until early August that four prisoners escaped from the detention center while awaiting deportation. One of them is still at large. “Evaluations are underway on how this can be prevented in the future,” says spokesman Kohlbacher.
