The political leader of the federal capital of Upper Austria resigns after a lying affair became public. The “OÖ-Krone” asked the residents of Linz in the city and wanted to know what they thought of the events.
The people of Linz are actually largely in agreement: Luger made the right decision by resigning. “I think it’s very good that Luger has finally resigned. He lied and deceived us all for a long time. “As mayor, that’s simply not possible,” says Lena Vogl, shocked by the situation. Michaela Vogl sees it that way too: “If he has style, he should just go.”
‘No honest politicians in Austria’
But not everyone sees it so well: “I am quite conflicted. “He is certainly not the only politician who has been guilty of something,” says Sonja Kirchberger, for example.
Margarita Atzmüller also has her own opinion: “What he did is of course not okay. Unfortunately, I believe that there are generally no honest politicians in Austria. You really have to ask yourself whether voting is still worth it.”
Still, most people see this situation as a good opportunity for a new beginning: “Maybe there will be a breath of fresh air in Linz politics now,” says Lena Vogl optimistically. Moritz Netherer sees it that way too: “In principle, I was actually happy with Luger as mayor, but there is always room for improvement.”
