Gang arrested – drug grandpa (70) brought substance to Upper Austria

Date:

Age is no protection against foolishness! A 70-year-old German acted as a drug smuggler for a criminal trio from Upper Austria and brought the substance across the border in a prepared car. The criminals had been active for three years and now the handcuffs clicked.

Police have put an end to the large-scale drug trade in central Upper Austria. In total, three main perpetrators (aged 23, 25 and 26) are said to have smuggled and distributed around 300 kilograms of cannabis herb, four kilograms of cocaine and ten kilograms of amphetamines into Upper Austria between August 2020 and May 2024, as announced by the State Criminal Police. Bavarian investigators were also involved in the investigation.

Active since 2020
Two of the suspects had already imported and redistributed large quantities of drugs in Austria between August 2020 and March 2021. They were probably still acting independently of each other at the time, the police reported. From May 2021, the three are said to have acted partly together. The medicine was allegedly obtained at home and abroad and passed on together.

70-year-old in custody
A 70-year-old German brought addictive drugs to Austria in a prepared vehicle. He was arrested in Munich in mid-February. New sources of supply in Germany and Spain were then used. A garage in Leonding served as a drug bunker, where the police seized 22 kilos of cannabis herb. All suspects are in custody, a police spokeswoman said.
