Because foreign metal objects could have ended up in cheese biscuits, the Rewe Group has now recalled the product. A “possible health risk” cannot be ruled out, it was said on Monday.
The affected product is the “Billa-always-good-cheese pastries” with Gouda, tomato and chili (90 grams) from supplier Buiteman with a best-before date of June 24, 2025. The company states in a press release that consumption is not recommended. For this reason, the pastries have been withdrawn from sale in all branches of Billa, Billa Plus, Adeg and Sutterlüty.
Returns possible without invoice
Anyone who has already purchased the product can return it without an invoice at any branch. “Buiteman BV regrets the incident and apologizes to all customers for the inconvenience caused,” the company said.
The warning did not say that the health risk was “caused by the producer, manufacturer, importer or distributor.” The metal foreign bodies could be found in individual products. It is a “precautionary measure” because consumer protection is consistent.
