An unknown man is said to have mercilessly beaten three 16-year-olds with a steel chain in Vienna-Leopoldstadt on Wednesday evening. One of the victims sustained injuries to his face and forearm. The suspect is said to have then fled on an e-scooter. A suspect (18) was arrested.
The brutal attack is said to have taken place shortly after midnight on Praterstrasse. According to the victims, the suspect also had a knife. He is said to have taken it from his waistband before the attack.

The alerted officers immediately started a manhunt and soon a suspect was arrested. This is an 18-year-old Syrian who was arrested on Nestroyplatz. “During the search, a multi-link galvanized steel chain was found and confiscated in the storage box of the e-scooter,” the Vienna police said on Wednesday.
However, no knife was found during the search. One of the victims had to be taken to hospital because of his injuries. Further investigations are ongoing.
