Mysterious large-scale operation in the Tyrolean lowlands: After a report of bodily harm, the police found several jerry cans with various chemicals on a farm. This could be used to produce addictive substances. Has a drug lab been discovered?
The location of the operation was the Maurach district in the municipality of Buch in Unterland (Schwaz district). On Wednesday morning at around 8:00, the police received a report of physical injuries. According to reports, it was a domestic violence in which a 30-year-old Pole allegedly injured a 21-year-old Polish woman – apparently his partner – in an apartment in the farmhouse.
Arrested after a brief escape
The police of Strass im Zillertal drove to the scene of the crime, but the suspect fled after the attack in time. But he did not get far: according to a police spokesman, he was arrested around 9:00 in Buch. “During the arrest, he punched and kicked the officers and then took them to a hospital,” the spokesman said.
Sharp smell in apartment
When the police returned to the farm, a pungent odor was detected in the couple’s apartment. Therefore, the police called in internal hazardous materials experts and alerted the Buch fire department.
House search ordered
The Innsbruck prosecutor’s office also ordered a search of the apartment. “Several plastic jerry cans containing various, as yet unknown, chemical substances were discovered and seized,” the police spokesman continued.
They are now being examined and analyzed in detail. What is already certain is that the chemicals “could also theoretically be used to produce medicines”.
Woman injured in attack
As a result, the Buch fire brigade had to ventilate the entire building. Several parties live in the house and incorrect handling of the chemicals would have had far-reaching consequences. The Polish woman suffered significant injuries in the attack by the 30-year-old.
