Relatives of Israeli hostages broke through the Gaza border fence during a protest. Dozens of people initially gathered at the border to shout through loudspeakers to their kidnapped loved ones on the other side.
Some of them crossed the border and ran toward the Gaza Strip, Israeli media said. Security forces asked them to return, and the protesters complied. The protesters carried signs with pictures of hostages.
Austrians also among the hostages
“I’m sorry we’re not there yet, but I promise you’ll come back,” said the mother of a kidnapped soldier. More than 100 hostages are still being held by the terrorist organization Hamas 328 days after their abduction. Among them is still the Austrian-Israeli father Tal Shoham, the Vienna Foreign Ministry announced.

It is unclear how many hostages are still alive. The Israeli army recently freed a hostage and recovered the body of a kidnapped soldier. The relatives of the hostages have repeatedly demonstrated for a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, which would lead to the release of the kidnapped. They accuse the Israeli government of not doing enough to reach an agreement.
