“Shots in the house!” Neighbors raised the alarm in Eisenstadt on Friday evening. There were fears of a crime. The special Cobra unit had to approach the Martin barracks in full force. Entry took place at a suitable moment. A resident was arrested.
“This is the police speaking! Come out with your hands up, the house is surrounded!” This loud announcement through the megaphone startled the residents of a settlement near the Martinkaserne in Eisenstadt on Friday evening. From 3:30 a.m. the call was repeated almost every minute. In the background the next horn was mixed in. The special Cobra unit had taken up position.
Several shots heard
The reason for the large-scale operation was an alarm message from concerned residents of Ing.-Hans-Sylvester-Straße, who suspected that they had heard several shots in the suspicious neighboring house shortly after midnight. “In such a case, extreme caution must be exercised,” the special forces on site said.
The operation was supported by an aerial drone. A detail on the side: In the middle of the action, a stopover had to be made in the Martinkazerne to replace the batteries.
“There was no danger to life”
The entry took place around four in the morning. The suspect was arrested. No dangerous firearm was found on him. However, the officers confiscated a blank pistol and an air rifle.
According to Cobra, the man was alone in the house. “There were no injuries. No one was in danger,” the police report said. After the investigation was completed, a complaint was filed against the resident with the Eisenstadt prosecutor’s office.
