An eight-year-old boy was hit by a car in Lower Austria on Thursday and was seriously injured. The child pushed his bicycle with his father to the side of the road when the 40-year-old drunk driver went off the road on a bend.
The accident drama happened on the LB55 near Krumbach (Wiener Neustadt-Land district). The father was able to jump to the side just in time, but his son was not, the police of Lower Austria reported.
The eight-year-old was thrown back 20 meters in the collision and ended up in a meadow three meters from the edge of the road. Particularly reprehensible: the motorist simply drove away after the collision!
2.18 per thousand “fueled”
The child was flown by the emergency doctor’s helicopter to the SMZ Ost in Vienna. The driver of the car was found by the police about two kilometers away at his home address. A breath analysis showed 2.18 per thousand. He was reported. His driver’s license was taken from him.
