Resuscitation fails – fatal swimming accident in Lower Austria: 28-year-old drowned

A tragic swimming accident occurred in Lower Austria on Saturday afternoon in which a man (28) died.

The incident took place in a Seebarn gravel pit in the swimming pond in Grafenwörth (Tulln district). The 28-year-old is said to have had an epileptic seizure while swimming and sank into the water as a result.

There happened to be a professional diver present
According to the volunteer fire department of Grafenwörth, a professional diver who happened to be present pulled the 28-year-old out of the water. The man was rescued from a depth of up to eight meters.

Resuscitation failed
Emergency services were called and tried to resuscitate the man, but without success. All help came too late for him, the state police headquarters confirmed on Sunday.
