In the German municipality of Argenbühl, just a few kilometres from the Austrian border, a terrible accident occurred on Saturday afternoon. A 75-year-old man was burning wood waste when he made a fateful decision.
The man was burning leftover wood in a barbecue bowl in Argenbühl near Ravensburg (Baden-Württemberg) around 1 p.m. on Saturday. However, because the fire did not really want to catch on, the 75-year-old made a fateful decision.
The man poured methanol from a can onto the grill pan where the wood was burning. This caused a backfire in the can, which then literally exploded. The burning liquid flowed over the man.
The senior was able to extinguish the fire himself, but suffered life-threatening burns and was immediately flown in a rescue helicopter to a special clinic.
