Two seriously injured motorcyclists caused accidents in Upper Austria on Saturday. In Linz, a milled edge may have been the cause of the fatal fall of a 57-year-old; in Vorderweißenbach, a motorcyclist (32) ended up in the opposite lane on a blind bend and collided with a car.
A milled edge of about five centimeters high and a manhole cover that protruded eight centimeters through the missing cover are believed to have caused the serious motorcycle accident in Linz on Saturday afternoon. A 57-year-old lost control of his two-wheeler in the middle of an intersection on the construction site.
The man from Linz fell on the road and stood between a traffic light and a lamppost. His motorcycle collided with a car. After receiving first aid from the emergency doctor, the 57-year-old was taken to a hospital in Linz. His two-wheeler was badly damaged and the car was only slightly damaged.
Frontal in Car
Recently, another motorcycle accident had occurred in the town of Stumpten in Vorderweißenbach. A 32-year-old from Bad Leonfelden crossed the road in a confusing right-hand bend halfway. He threw his motorcycle to the ground because of an oncoming vehicle and collided head-on with the car of a 39-year-old Czech.
To the hospital by helicopter
The two-wheeler driver himself slid past the vehicles and ended up badly injured in the middle of the road. After treatment by the emergency medical team from Zwettl an der Rodl, the 32-year-old was flown to a hospital in Linz by the Christophorus 10 rescue helicopter. The Czech driver suffered only minor injuries. Both vehicles were totaled.
