Police officers in Vienna-Ottakring managed to arrest a duo of fraudsters on Monday afternoon who are said to have been responsible for several thefts from jewelry stores in Lower Austria in the past.
The fugitive couple tried to sell a gold chain in a jewelry store around 3:45 p.m. However, the duo was immediately recognized by the employees and immediately alerted the police.
Attempt to escape failed
While trying to escape, the employees managed to stop the 42-year-old suspect, but he fought back and tried to injure an employee in the neck with a knife. The police arrested the suspect and took him to a correctional facility.
No injuries
A report was filed by his 40-year-old wife. No one was injured in the incident. The murder weapon and the suspected stolen gold chain were seized. Further investigations are ongoing.
