A major fire broke out in a warehouse in the industrial center of Biedermannsdorf (Lower Austria). The highest warning level has been activated. A huge column of smoke is visible for kilometers.
According to the State Fire Brigade Association, the location of the fire was a high-bay warehouse of the Zaruba company. Although the interior deployment was extremely difficult due to the thick smoke and the wearing of heavy respiratory protection, the population in the area was asked to keep doors and windows closed.
There were also warnings that there would be visibility restrictions on the southern highway. According to reports, there have been no injuries so far.
Hours of firefighting work are expected
Initially, ten fire brigades with around 80 emergency services were called into action, but there will probably be more, says Paul Fastner of the Mödling district fire brigade command. The expectation was that the extinguishing work would take hours.
