The ‘Civil Servant of the Year 2024’ was also honoured this year. This time, the choice in Vienna fell on Simon Plaschg (19), who had completed his service at the Samaritan Association in rescue and patient transport. Top civil servants from the other federal states were also honoured.
This award annually rewards outstanding achievements and exceptional dedication in community service. That is why the ‘Civil Servant of the Year’ is now honored annually in each state.
Simon Plaschg really wanted to do community service in the social sector. That’s how he ended up at the Samaritan Association in Vienna: “I now do volunteer work at least once a week. That’s important to me. And I can say that it has become a passion of mine,” emphasizes the 19-year-old Simon. According to Simon, the community and the team in particular have contributed to this.
I would like to study physiotherapy
Even after his community service, Simon will remain involved in the social sector. He plans to study physiotherapy and will continue to volunteer with the Samaritan Association as long as his time permits.
“Social mission”
“Our community service volunteers provide us with considerable support in fulfilling the social mission of the Samaritan Association. In return, we offer the young men valuable heart education: they immerse themselves in new worlds and help people in need. This shapes their character and perspective for the rest of their lives. Simon sets a good example. Thank you very much for your great commitment,” explains Federal Director of the Samariterbund, Reinhard Hundsmüller, in a broadcast.
