Rare observation – fishermen went online in the Adriatic Sea

According to a statement from the Institute of Sea Biology in Montenegro, it is a young copy. A fisherman captured the animal on Monday morning at a depth of 115 meters about twelve kilometers from the coast, as the Institute for Marine Biology in Montenegro reported on Facebook.

Last observation only two years ago
The institute also explained that white sharks in the Adriatic Sea are not uncommon, but observations. However, it was only the third time in 30 years that the observation was confirmed by a white shark in the Mediterranean Sea. Recently a copy in the Croatian Adriatic she was spotted in 2023.

However, there is no need for fear because of the new observation: attacks by white sharks on humans are rare. “With a rational approach and without sensation it is easy to understand that such incidents compared to attacks by other animals, even those we encounter every day, prevent much less frequent,” the institute explains.

The last shark attack with a fatal outcome in the Adriatic she took place in 1974. The last attack was in 2008 for the Croatian island – the diver who wore a freshly caught fish and therefore pulled the animal survived the incident.
