Serious accident Friday evening on the S 6, the Semmering Expressway, near Krieglach: During an overtaking maneuver, two cars collided. The vehicle of an 81-year-old overturned and suffered life-threatening injuries.
According to the police, an 81-year-old from the Oberpullendorf district (Burgenland) was driving his car on the S6 from Bruck an der Mur towards Mürzzuschlag. At the same time, a 41-year-old from the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district was driving his company car on the same stretch of road. The two cars collided during an overtaking manoeuvre.
The 41-year-old’s vehicle crashed into the concrete barrier on the left, while the 81-year-old’s small car skidded, rolled over several times and eventually came to a rest on its wheels.

When the fire brigade arrived at the scene of the accident, an emergency doctor who happened to be present instructed FF Krieglach’s operations manager, Thomas Schwaighofer, to immediately carry out a crash rescue, as the trapped person had very serious injuries.
The Burgenlander was flown to the LKH Graz by the C17 rescue helicopter. The Upper Styrian, who was also injured, was brought to the LKH Bruck an der Mur by rescue operations.
