A flight from India was diverted to Frankfurt due to an alleged bomb threat on a piece of toilet paper. The plane was able to land safely in the Turkish city of Erzurum.
Turkish state broadcaster TRT reported that an Indian passenger plane en route from Mumbai, India, to Frankfurt Airport in Germany was diverted to eastern Turkey after a bomb threat was written on a piece of toilet paper on board.
Airman evacuated after bomb threat
According to the airline, the Vistara plane landed safely in Erzurum province on Friday afternoon. The crew and 237 passengers were evacuated, as Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu also confirmed.
The city’s airspace was closed to air traffic and a state of emergency was declared, TRT also reported. According to this, a passenger gave the crew a piece of toilet paper with the inscription “Bomb on the plane” before the unplanned landing.
