While chopping wood in front of his house on Saturday, a 64-year-old cut off part of his middle finger in Söll in Tyrol. The man had to be flown to hospital.
At around 1:15 p.m., the 64-year-old was splitting wood alone in the parking lot in front of his home. “During this work, a piece of wood became stuck in the wood splitter, whereupon the man attempted to remove it,” police said.
Piece of wood suddenly broke
At the same time, however, the piece of wood broke into two parts and the splitting knife completely severed the first part of the 64-year-old’s middle finger. “He was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter,” the director said.
