Vorarlberg is the “land of volunteering”. In his new series, author Robert Schneider highlights people who are committed to helping others. He recently met Elmar Stüttler.
What began as a life crisis, weighed down by great feelings of meaninglessness, has now grown into an association with around 300 volunteers, several community servants and a dozen employees. The initiative of Elmar and Margit Stüttler “Tischlein Deck Dich Vorarlberg” has become a charity brand that is indispensable in the region. Almost every day, the association, based in Vandans, moves around 30 tons of food with ten vehicles and distributes it to people whose income is no longer sufficient to provide for their livelihood. Every week, the club vehicles with the well-known logo can be seen in Bludenz, Feldkirch, Götzis, Dornbirn and Bregenz, where the drop-off points are located.
