In a room fire in Vienna-Favoriten, the fire brigade was able to save a man’s life at the last moment on Sunday morning. When the emergency services arrived, the victim was hanging from the window sill of his apartment on the second floor. He was able to be brought to safety with a bouncy castle.
The fire broke out early in the morning on a balcony in the apartment building. The fire quickly spread to the apartment and the roof. The resident was trapped in the apartment by the smoke and the fire and climbed out of the window.
The resident was hanging alone on the windowsill
“When the first firefighters arrived, the balcony was already completely on fire and the man was hanging out of the window, holding on to the windowsill. He managed to hold on by screaming and eventually fell into a bouncy castle that had been quickly set up by the fire brigade,” the fire brigade reports.
Breathing protection teams of the professional fire brigade extinguished the fire with two fire lines and checked the adjacent apartments. The resident received urgent medical care from the Vienna professional rescue service and was then taken to a hospital.
