Tragic bicycle accident early Friday evening in Reith im Alpbachtal in Tyrol: A 37-year-old Austrian fell over a meadow during the descent. He may have overlooked a watercourse. He later died at the accident site. His companion did not notice the accident.
The man from the Kufstein district was on his way from the Reither Kogel. There he wanted to ride over a mown meadow into the valley and followed his companion. According to the police, he was unable to observe the exact course of his colleague’s journey because of the terrain. First, the man drove over a steep 30-degree slope. This is interrupted by a watercourse about 40 centimeters deep. The 37-year-old may have overlooked this. He fell and came to rest only 18 meters behind the water. He later died at the accident site.
Pedestrian found the victim
His companion did not notice the accident. The victim was found by a pedestrian just after 8 p.m. “The alarmed first aid helicopter flew to the indicated place of the accident, where the first aid doctor was only able to determine the death of the cyclist,” the police said. The mountain rescue in Kramsach saved the body.
