Four young men injured several victims in Vienna on Friday evening, some seriously, and initiated a large-scale police action in Liesing. The quartet was extremely brutal in a fight and a robbery, with a 30-year-old suffering a life-threatening stomach stab when he came to the aid of the victim of the Chechen gang of robbers.
Three Chechens and their Polish accomplice left a brutal trail of crime in Liesing. First crime scene: Geßlgasse. There, one of the suspects hit a Viennese with brass knuckles in the face. When the victim fell to the ground screaming in pain, the gang members also kicked the man.
As passers-by rushed to help the already badly injured 28-year-old, the situation escalated even further. Because one of the brave helpers suddenly felt a violent stab: one of the perpetrators had rammed the blade of a knife into his stomach with full force. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries. The criminals fled in the direction of the Dreisandegasse.
Third victim was able to break free and escape
The next crime took place in Özelt Park. There, a man’s watch was unbuttoned. His tormentors unequivocally asked him to pay 500 euros if he wanted them back. Although the 21-year-old pulled out the money, he was brutally beaten. However, he was able to break free and escape. Police, acting quickly, were able to arrest three of the attackers, aged between 19 and 20, shortly afterwards.
Both the 30-year-old helper – he is stable despite the life-threatening stabbing – and the 28-year-old who was attacked have been taken to a hospital. The 21-year-old victim also suffered head injuries.
Cobblestone flew into a wild brawl
A knife was also involved in an argument between several men on Keplerplatz in Favoriten. The acquaintance of one of those involved (28) was about to settle the dispute when a cobblestone hit him with full force. However, because he bent in time, he was only hit in the elbow. The police were able to track down four fighters: A stateless person, 29, who also turned out to be a stone thrower, was wounded by a knife in the neck and back of the head – and was arrested.
