UN experts have warned of the “alarming” recruitment of prisoners in Russian prisons by the Wagner Group, a mercenary organization affiliated with the Kremlin, through tactics that violate human rights and endanger their individual freedoms.
“We are deeply concerned about reports of visits by members of the so-called Wagner group to penitentiaries in various regions of Russia. pardons for criminal convictions prisoners who join the group and participate in the war in Ukraine, in addition to paying monthly payments to their families,” the experts said in a statement.
