German police have succeeded in busting a child pornography ring. When a 45-year-old suspect was arrested in Erfurt, Thuringia, a 12-year-old boy was also freed from his clutches – in what police say is a seemingly clear-cut situation.
According to the Bamberg Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Hanover police, the child was rescued from an immediate emergency. When the officers searched the apartment of a suspect, they found a twelve-year-old boy from Berlin under circumstances that “gave rise to suspicion of sexual abuse.”
Contact under the guise of supporting musicians
The perpetrators are said to have lured children and young people into a trap under the pretext of wanting to support them in their music careers.
Seven arrests in various states
There have also been further searches and arrests in recent weeks, the statement said. In total, arrest warrants have been issued for seven suspects from Bavaria, Schleswig-Holstein, Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Thuringia. The men, aged between 41 and 53, are already in custody.
Several suspects have partially confessed
She is under investigation for alleged gang-like distribution of content showing child abuse. As administrators and moderators, they allegedly made photos and videos of child sexual abuse accessible and actively shared them on child pornography platforms on Darknet. Several suspects are said to have made partial confessions.
An online platform was also shut down, “which served to establish contact between pedophiles and minors under the guise of promoting musical talent,” the report said. In total, some 620 pieces of evidence were seized, including banned child-shaped sex dolls.
