A 58-year-old was driving a tractor towards Hahntennjoch near Imst in Tyrol on Sunday. Suddenly, the vehicle caught fire. The driver wanted to extinguish the fire with snow. In the process, he injured himself.
According to the police, the 58-year-old was driving uphill on the Hahntennjochstrasse in the municipality of Imst shortly after noon. The tractor suddenly started burning, probably due to a technical problem.
Abrasions and cuts
While trying to extinguish the flames with snow, the driver suffered numerous abrasions and cuts. Police rushed to the 58-year-old’s aid. Officials tried to keep the fire under control until the fire brigade arrived. But it was only the Floriani disciples who managed to extinguish the fire.
Traffic jam due to fire brigade
The Hahntennjochstrasse had to be closed for the entire operation. There was a traffic jam. Firefighters from Tarrenz, Imst, Elmen and Bschlabs were present. The injured tractor driver was treated by the rescue team.
