The Provincial Council presented Biqain, which will concentrate all the knowledge of universities, research centers and Biscayan companies in the field of quantum technology to be at the forefront.
The Provincial Council of Bizkaia announced on Tuesday that it will concentrate all the knowledge of Bizkayan universities, research centers and companies in the field of quantum technology in a center in Leioa, to be at the forefront and “consolidate the leading position of the area” in this field.
One day at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Barakaldo, the Vice General of Biscay, Elixabete Etxanobe, Biqain, Bizkaia Quantum Advance Industries, presented the strategy to accelerate the development and commercialization of innovations in quantum technology in the area through collaboration between technological and research centers, the university, companies and public administration.
Over the past three years, the Provincial Council has been working with these agents to generate an ‘ecosystem’ in quantum technology, whose activity will be concentrated in the coming years in a building in the Leioa Technology Park of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
To this end, the María Goyri building in the aforementioned park will be equipped, where applied research, technological development and innovation in this field will continue.
In the presentation, Etxanobe pointed out that quantum technology “is a disruptive technology with the potential to revolutionize the industry and change the world.” As he said, “we are building the future in Bizkaia.”
