“Clearly noticeable” – magnitude 3.0: earthquake in northern Styria

Who felt it? An earthquake shook northern Styria on Tuesday afternoon. Although the quake only had a magnitude of 3.0, it was clearly felt by residents in the epicentre north of Altaussee.

It was exactly 16:33 when the ground shook briefly in Styria on Tuesday afternoon: a noticeable earthquake with the epicentre north of Altaussee (Liezen district) took place. With a magnitude of 3.0 on the Richter scale, the cities got off lightly.

Probably no damage
According to the Austrian Seismological Service (GeoSphere Austria), the earthquake was clearly felt by the population, but no damage to buildings is to be expected with such a light earthquake.
