In Sattendorf on the Ossiacher See (Meeting municipality) in Carinthia, two ÖBB trains collided on Tuesday evening. Four people were injured, one seriously.
According to a fire department spokesman, a freight train and a passenger train collided sideways a few meters from the station. “Fortunately, the trains were hardly traveling at any speed,” the spokesman said.
Train driver seriously injured
The driver of the S-Bahn train was trapped in the driver’s cab. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to information from “Krone”, he is doing well under the circumstances and is not in a critical condition.
There were four passengers on the train. Two were slightly injured and were also taken to hospital for examination. The driver of the freight train was also slightly injured.
The train route between Villach and Feldkirchen is currently closed. Around 200 emergency services are at the scene of the accident.
