After bad weather, Wiener Linien is now back on schedule

Date:

After heavy rainfall throughout Austria, clean-up operations are still in full swing. The Vienna lines were also briefly affected by the heavy storm and were partially closed. All affected lines have been back in normal operation since Wednesday morning.

Due to severe weather conditions, parts of the U2, U3, U4 and U6 were closed on Sunday night. According to the broadcast, all lines are now running continuously again since the start of the work.

U4 still running with limitations
However, there are low speeds on the U4 in the area between Schottenring and Schwedenplatz stations and between Pilgramgasse and Kettenbrückengasse.

“Never existed”
Wiener Linien employees and emergency services had prevented water from flowing into the metro tunnels in recent days. “Something like this has never happened before,” reports Wiener Linien boss Alexandra Reinagl.

Wiener Linien would like to thank you
After completion of the work, normal speed will be resumed on these routes in a few days. Wiener Linien also thanked its employees for their tireless efforts over the past few days.

Also on the western route, which was hit by floods and mudslides, continuous but limited rail traffic is possible again from Wednesday morning.

“Westlijn can be used on one track again”
“The efforts of the past few days have made it possible for the ‘old’ western route to be accessible again on one track tomorrow,” the ÖBB announced in a broadcast late on Tuesday evening. In the meantime, the travel warning of the Federal Railways remains in force until Thursday.
