Wildberries founder Tatjana Bakalschuk made serious accusations against her husband. He tried to take over the company together with the armed men, almost as a surprise, she said.
Long-running dispute over a multi-billion dollar company
The couple has been fighting for months over the rights to the multi-billion dollar company. According to Tatyana Bakalchuk’s account, the gunmen, led by her husband Vladislav, showed up unannounced at the company’s headquarters. When the guards refused to let them in, a fight broke out and shots were fired.
‘Vladislav, what are you doing?’
“Vladislav, what are you doing? How are you going to look your parents and our children in the eye,” she addressed her husband in a video message. The suspect, in turn, stated that he had arrived at the headquarters for negotiations on the construction of a warehouse when he and his men were attacked.
The couple split in July
Wildberries is Russia’s largest online retailer, claiming to process over 10 million orders daily. Tatyana Bakalschuk founded the company in 2004 with her husband, IT engineer Wladislaw Bakalschuk. In July, Russia’s richest woman announced her separation from her husband and filed for divorce.
Support from Chechnya’s ruler Kadyrov
The company is set to acquire Russian ad tech company Russ. The Kremlin has already approved the planned merger, but Vladislav Bakalchuk has rejected it, calling it a “big mistake.” After a meeting in July, he received prominent support from Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov.
