Dramatic scenes unfolded on Wednesday evening during demolition work on an outbuilding in Bad Schwanberg in Styria: the owner was seriously injured by falling debris and her rescue was difficult.
On Wednesday, things went wrong with an outbuilding in Bad Schwanberg, Western Styria, which the owner couple wanted to demolish with heavy tools.
The local fire brigade was alerted around 4:30 p.m. for a “human rescue.” “We arrived at the same time as the emergency doctor and the Red Cross. The problem was that the elderly lady was seriously injured by fallen parts and was difficult to rescue and care for under the pile of rubble,” reports Lukas Andracher from the Bad Schwanberg volunteer fire brigade.
Eventually, the emergency services managed to free the woman and she was taken to the nearest hospital after initial treatment. After the fire brigade’s safety work, officers from the Bad Schwanberg police station began investigating the accident.
