This represents 3% of consultations that have to wait every day for a patient who does not show up and who does not inform in advance that he cannot be present, so that someone else can use their time who may need it.
Every day, 22% of Osakidetza’s outpatient consultations are cancelled. Of these, 3% correspond to patients who are absent without prior notice, that is, 200 consultations per day.
According to data from the Basque Government’s Ministry of Health, 22% of the 6,358 outpatient consultations that Osakidetza schedules daily are cancelled.
Of this percentage, 13% corresponds to the percentages cancelled by the Ministry of Health. 6% of appointments are cancelled by patients with prior notice, and in 3% of appointments, patients do not show up and do not notify.
This means that 200 consultations per day have to wait for a patient who does not show up and who does not inform in advance that he cannot be present, so that someone else who may need it can use his time.
