Hezbollah has vowed retaliation after waves of explosions in Lebanon. A first phase of the counterattack apparently began early Friday afternoon. Israel reported massive shelling, with at least 150 rockets expected to cause destruction.
The Israeli military said in a statement that about 60 rockets were fired from Lebanon at the northern Israeli town of Sefad. Another 90 rounds followed in a second and third wave. Some of the rockets were intercepted, the rest fell on open areas in the town, the report said.
According to the Israeli Fire and Rescue Service, small fires broke out after rocket fire from Lebanon. Fire teams are on the scene.
