Date:

Dramatic scenes took place in Volkshilfe in Burgenland. Every second counts in medical emergency situations: the club had to have this experience. In the middle of daily work, a 68-year-old suddenly had a heart attack and collapsed.

“Witnesses hurried immediately for the man. Thanks to a rapidly initiated heart pressure massage it was saved,” reports Volkshilfe President Verena Dunst.

Man in the hospital
The revival went on for more than 30 minutes. The patient was admitted to the hospital. “The 68-year-old is now on his way of improvement,” can Verena Dunst breathe a sigh of relief.

New training
The dramatic incident is currently the reason to equip institutions of Volkshilfe in Burgenland with automated external defibrillators (AED). These include the sun markets in Güssing, Oberwart and Oberpullendorf, the Treasure Pit in Großpetersdorf, the state office in Eisenstadt, the administration in Güssing and the Nickelsdorf day center with a nursing basis of the house and Mamas Kitchen. “At all locations, first aid courses are performed with a focus on the application of the Defi. The training takes place in close collaboration with the Red Cross,” explains the Volkshilfe President.

First responder is important
“Our 316 first reaction in Burgenland, who moved 3223 times last year, show how important fast help is and could have arrived overbound minutes until the rescue teams have arrived,” says Rotkeuz President Friederike Pirringer. Verena Dunst: “The security of guided people, customers and employees is obvious.”
