In a large-scale search, 66 people from the fire brigade and police were employed and two drones were also used: a woman with dementia had been missing since Saturday afternoon. Fortunately, she was found safe and sound on Sunday morning. Touching: She was on her way to her parents’ house – now uninhabited.
The 77-year-old’s husband had reported the matter to the Feldbach Police Station in the afternoon because his wife had left the apartment. Her illness was all the more worrisome.
Countless helpers, drones in action
The helpers reacted quickly and with great effort: 66 police officers and firefighters from Feldbach, Mühldorf, Leitersdorf, Gniebing, Raabau and Auersbach in the area, along the Raabweg, the Hainfeld ponds, the military training area Kornberg and in the urban area of Feldbach. Police drones were also used. The action had to be stopped around 2:30 am.
However, the search was resumed on Sunday morning with the deployment of a police helicopter and two fire crews, including divers. And the emergency services were successful!
At about 11 a.m., a police officer from the Feldbach Police Inspectorate was on the road with a team from the Leitersdorf Fire Department and noticed the woman. She was found sitting on a path in a forest about half a mile from her former and now uninhabited family home in Leitersdorf. The approachable woman was taken to the Regional Hospital Feldbach as a precaution.
