The Lebanese Ministry of Health has raised to 37 the death toll in an Israeli bombing on a residential building on the outskirts of Beirut on Saturday, which injured 68 people.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Health, issued a new update this afternoon on the number of fatalities in the Israeli airstrike on a building in Dahye, a southern Beirut suburb considered a stronghold of the Shiite Hezbollah group.
This morning, the head of the government department, Firas Abiad, explained at a press conference that three of the then 31 dead were children and another seven were women, adding that “there are still unidentified remains.” However, the number is increasing as the hours go by.

As defense sources confirmed to the Israeli press, the target of the attack was: Ibrahim Akilwhich carried a reward of seven million dollars from the United States. The Zionist army has confirmed Akil’s death.
Akil, alias Tahsinwas a member of Hezbollah’s Jihad Council, the group’s main military arm. The man was part of the Islamic Jihad Organization, which claimed responsibility for the 1983 bombings of the U.S. embassy in Beirut and a hostage situation that same decade.
“Our objectives are clear and our actions speak for themselves,” the Israeli prime minister said. Benjamin Netanyahuin a statement shortly after the Israeli military confirmed Akil’s death.

The bombing also comes amid a dramatic rise in tensions after two days coordinated explosions of communications equipment —the 17th and September 18, attacks allegedly carried out by Israel that have almost disappeared 40 dead and about 3,000 injuredaccording to the most recent balance sheet of the Lebanese authorities.
The health minister explained that since Tuesday, hospitals have performed more than 2,000 operations on those injured in the wave of simultaneous explosions involving thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies in the hands of members of Hezbollah, an ally of Iran.
The spokesperson for the Secretary General of the UNStéphane Dujarric has urged parties in the Middle East to reduce tensions and show maximum restraint following this latest Israeli attack.
“We urge the parties to immediately return to the cessation of hostilities and to fully implement Security Council resolution 1701. The region is on the brink of catastrophe,” he said at a news conference. He also urged “all possible efforts” to return to the diplomatic path.
