The actors and comedians Simon Schwarz and Manuel Rubey have a close connection to Burgenland through their families. That is why they do not care what happens in the newest federal state. What they have to deal with, why they are afraid of the future and why the world used to be good.
“Crown”: On Sunday you will perform your program “Das Restaurant” in Bad Sauerbrunn. You play yourself, two actors who completely overestimate each other and open a chic restaurant in the provinces, even though they know nothing about gastronomy. When the barn burns down, it is clear to the village policewoman: “The Rubey has demolished the hut with great warmth.” Why do you put yourself in the spotlight?
Simon Schwarz: The older we get, the more often we wonder what we are going to do for a living when no one wants to see us anymore. We have learned nothing. Manuel has a discontinued degree in politics and philosophy. I am a high school dropout because I have suffered from ADHD since childhood. The saying goes: if you can’t do it, become a landlord! But that is not true. That is why we are so strict in our business idea.
