Ukrainian arrested – attempted murder with knife in refugee shelter?

Two Ukrainian citizens clashed in their shared accommodation in Flachau (Salzburg) on ​​Monday morning. One of the two attacked the other with a knife. He managed to escape to the neighbouring building. After the attacker was arrested, the police are investigating attempted murder.

Late Monday morning, a violent confrontation took place between a 25-year-old and a 47-year-old Ukrainian in the Pongau community of Flachau. The two initially engaged in a verbal fight, but soon turned to physical violence.

During the course of the argument, the older man grabbed a knife from a kitchen drawer, attacked the younger man and injured him twice to an undetermined extent. The injured man was then able to escape with witnesses to a neighboring building and was later flown by rescue helicopter to the clinic in Schwarzach.

Upon their arrival, police were able to locate and arrest the 47-year-old attacker in front of the shared apartment building. This was followed by securing evidence and interviewing the witness. An attempted murder investigation is also underway.
