“Devil’s trick” – Pope condemns pornography, magicians, occultists

Date:

Pope Francis warned against online pornography during the general audience on Wednesday, saying modern technology offers “numerous opportunities to fall for the devil.”

“Let us think of online pornography, behind which there is a flourishing market: a widespread phenomenon, but one that Christians must guard against and resolutely reject,” the Pope said.

It’s teeming with “magicians, occultists, spiritualists”
“The devil’s greatest trick is to make people believe that he does not exist. And yet our technological and secularized world is full of magicians, occultists, spiritualists, astrologers, sellers of spells and amulets and, unfortunately, real satanic sects,” the Pope stressed.

Francis canceled his appointments on Monday due to a mild flu. He appeared in good condition at the general audience on Wednesday. He called on the faithful to pray for his upcoming trip to Belgium and Luxembourg.

Pope on longest apostolic journey
The Pope will travel to Luxembourg and Belgium from Thursday to Sunday (26 to 29 September). The 87-year-old Francis undertook his longest apostolic journey to date in the first half of September. The twelve-day trip took him to Asia and the Pacific region. The head of the Catholic Church visited Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Singapore.
