US forces said they killed 37 terrorists in two airstrikes in Syria on Sunday, including several high-ranking leaders of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization and the Al Qaeda-linked group Hurras al-Din.
The attacks took place on September 16 and 24, as announced by US Central Command CENTCOM. There is no evidence of civilian casualties in either mission.
The airstrikes are part of efforts to dismantle terrorist organizations and prevent attacks on U.S. soldiers and allies.
IS training camp blown up
The target of the September 16 attack was reportedly an IS training camp in central Syria, killing at least 28 IS members. On September 24, US units carried out an attack in the northwest of the country, killing nine people, including a senior leader of Hurras al-Din. The US is leading an international coalition to fight IS in Iraq and Syria.
