Ex-president is 100! – Photos from Jimmy Carter’s party cause horror

Date:

Former American head of state Jimmy Carter, who has been receiving palliative care at home since February 2023, celebrated his 100th birthday on Tuesday. TV recordings of his small celebration with friends and family irritated many viewers. Despite his very poor health, Carter was wheeled around publicly in his wheelchair and also “watched” a small air show featuring military aircraft.

His hometown, the small town of Plains, Georgia, was dressed up for the special day. Carter’s most popular peanut butter was sold in numerous stores with decorations reminiscent of the 39th President of the United States everywhere. A concert was held at his former high school, and a special event was also held at a visitors center near the peanut farm where Carter grew up.

Tribute to Biden, Obama, Bush and Clinton
Of course, there were also congratulations from the White House, in whose garden a wooden installation depicted the number 100 – paired with the greeting “Congratulations, President Carter.” US President Joe Biden praised the former president as a “moral force for our country and for the world”. His “unwavering belief in the power of good in people” remains “a shining example” to all, Biden said in a video message. Former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush and Bill Clinton also sent birthday greetings via video (see below).

While these social media posts were consistently positively received, video footage from TV station CBS of Carter’s private party sparked outrage among countless viewers. Because they saw a man being pushed motionlessly from one part of the program to another in his wheelchair, covered with a white blanket. In his honor, several F-18 jets flew over his property (see video below).

“President Cater was a popular public figure. But I wonder why this is being shown to the world audience like this?” asked a user on the short messaging platform

Carter wants to attend the US elections and vote for Harris
Carter’s grandson, Jason, told CBS that his grandfather was “limited in what he could do.” The 100-year-old can no longer make phone calls. However, the former president made his most important wish more than clear on the occasion of his milestone birthday: he wanted to attend the presidential elections in November and vote for Kamala Harris.
