A biting incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Weiz district (Styria). When a dog owner tried to feed his Rottweiler, he attacked him. The four-legged friend was taken from him.
Once again there was a dog attack in Styria – this time in the Weiz district: the animal is a six-year-old male weighing 60 kilograms that has been with its now 24-year-old owner since he was one year old. He is said to have attacked several times, including from strangers.
But on Tuesday evening the situation escalated. While the Eastern Styrian wanted to put the food in front of him, the Rottweiler apparently bit “Mero” and seriously injured his owner, who tried to fend him off, in both arms. The young man ended up in hospital, the extent of his injuries is not yet clear.
Official veterinarian is critical
The four-legged friend was removed. This was caused by the official veterinarian involved Gerhard Kutschera, who also has clear words about the situation: “The owner should have received support a long time ago. Choosing a dog should be based on its personality and not on personal ego.”
And further: “Deranged show dogs of overwhelmed animal owners, who are often kept in poor conditions and are unable to carry out simple commands, often pose a particular safety risk and a high risk of dog bites.”
The Rottweiler is now in good hands at Noah’s Ark and, according to spokeswoman Katharina Gründl, appears “scared and reserved”.
