The Israeli army says it has fired again at a target in the Lebanese capital Beirut. There was talk of a “targeted attack” on Hezbollah facilities. Residents of individual neighborhoods were asked to evacuate.
Explosions were heard throughout Beirut. Videos on social media showed thick clouds of smoke rising into the sky. Neighbors reported that drones and fighter jets continued to fly over the city after the attacks.
Authorities said there was also an attack in Beirut’s Basta-Bachoura district. At least six people were killed and seven others were injured, the Health Ministry said. Initial reports indicate that an apartment in a building was hit.

The Israeli army again called on people in the suburbs of Beirut to evacuate. This is usually followed by Israeli attacks. “They are located near facilities (…) linked to Hezbollah, against which the Israeli army will take action in the near future,” army spokesman Avichai Adraee said on Thursday evening. He named the districts of Haret Hreik, Burj al-Barajne and Hadath Gharb.
Israel is currently carrying out massive airstrikes against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon. Immediately after the Islamist-Palestinian organization Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, Hezbollah opened a second front against Israel with regular rocket attacks from Lebanon.
The number of Hezbollah shellings has continued to increase in recent days, especially after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last Friday.
