An unusual industrial accident occurred in Serfaus on Thursday: a 58-year-old may have overlooked the gondola of a cable car, rammed and pushed into a stream bed.
The accident happened around 8:15 am while the cable car was in operation near a valley station: the local man was assigned to plant seedlings at support point number 1. The working area was actually outside the access and departure route of the cable car.
The man entered the cable car route
For unknown reasons, the man entered the access road and was hit by an approaching gondola. He was pushed about two meters over an embankment into a stream bed. No other employee witnessed the accident, but the 58-year-old was able to reach a colleague on his own, who provided initial treatment for his injuries.
He then sought medical attention and was taken by ambulance to Zams Hospital with significant injuries.
