Worth 3.3 million euros – Italy seizes luxury yacht from oligarch

Date:

The customs office in the northern Italian port of Imperia has seized the motor yacht New Vogue, worth more than 3.3 million euros. The seizure of the 30-meter ship was ordered by Imperia’s public prosecutor after investigations by the detectives, authorities said. The New Vogue is the third mega yacht belonging to Russian oligarchs seized in Liguria.

At the beginning of March, the 52-meter-long “Lena” was seized in the port of Sanremo. The ship has an estimated value of €43 million and is owned by Russian energy and infrastructure magnate Gennady Timchenko, who was friends with Russian President Vladimir Putin before ascending to the Kremlin.

The other large yacht impounded is the Lady M, a 65-meter vessel owned by billionaire and Rossiya Bank co-owner Alexei Mordashov, which is also docked in Imperia harbour. These two mega yachts were among the first assets of Russian oligarchs to be ‘frozen’ in Italy.

Several yachts, real estate and cars belonging to Russian citizens and companies have been seized in Italy in recent weeks. According to Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, Russian assets worth about 800 million euros have been seized since the start of the Ukraine conflict.
