Four injured people, including a trapped 17-year-old driver, and seriously deformed vehicles – this is the result of a horror accident on Monday morning on Seeberg near Mariazell.
The collision between the 17-year-old’s car and a small truck happened shortly after 6am on the B20. The 17-year-old’s passenger and the two occupants of the van were able to exit the vehicles independently despite the force of the collision. This was not possible for the young man behind the wheel of the car.
Artificial deep sleep after a complex rescue
He received emergency medical care while still in the vehicle, and only then could rescue efforts begin. Hydraulic rescue equipment was used. After being freed from the car, the 17-year-old was immediately put into an artificial deep sleep due to his serious injuries.
He was flown to the University Hospital Wiener Neustadt by the Christophorus 3 emergency medical helicopter. The other people involved in the accident escaped with minor injuries and were treated at the LKH Bruck.
Numerous emergency services on site
The cause of the accident is still unclear. The Bruck-Mürzzuschlag Red Cross with two emergency medical vehicles, three ambulances and the command vehicle, the emergency medical helicopter, the Mariazell, Gollrad and Turnau volunteer fire brigades and the police were extensively active.
