Sweden has declared the first of three levels of alert for parts of the country over potential gas supply problems from Russia.
According to the energy authority, the level will apply to parts of the country in western and southern Sweden on Tuesday to prepare for possible supply disruptions.
First escalation level of the emergency plan
Neighboring Denmark issued a similar warning on Monday in the wake of the war in Ukraine. The early warning level is also currently in force in Germany and Austria, and thus the first escalation level of the gas emergency plan. The second step is the alarm level and the third step is the emergency level.
The filling level in the Austrian gas storage facilities is currently around 40 percent of the annual requirement.
