Animal operations – snake “blocked” the exit of the inhabitants of the house

Date:

With the rising temperatures, more and more snakes are leaving their shelters in search of food and mates to mate – and thus also caused a lot of fire fighting over the weekend.

An unsolicited visit to Waidhofen an der Ybbs (Lower Austria) recently caused fear and terror. In the Rien district, an Aesculapian snake had made itself comfortable just above the front door of an apartment. Wrapped tightly around a stovepipe, the reptile panicked the residents and prevented them from leaving their residence at the same time.

Bite attack in the hand
“So they were trapped in their own four walls,” it reads. The involuntary detainees then alerted the fire brigade. The volunteer helpers immediately came in to handle the animal guest carefully. However, the snake promptly responded to the spirited rescue mission with a well-aimed bite on a comrade’s glove.

Fortunately, Aesculapian snakes are a non-venomous species and the bite attack remained harmless thanks to protective clothing. The snake was then released back into the wild. Both the residents and the Florianis will probably remember the use of animals for a long time to come.

Comrades came with protective clothing
Firefighters were introduced to a stately grass snake on the Kritzendorf lido near Klosterneuburg on Sunday. While the swimmers all around escaped the summer heat by jumping into the Danube, the comrades went outside in protective clothing. The uninvited guest was quickly caught with gloved dexterity and taken to the adjacent meadow.

On the other hand, a second mission in the Tulln district ended in a field: a snake was lost in the yard of a family home in Heiligeneich. To be on the safe side, the reptile was transported in a transport crate with a telescopic rod.
